Hyderabad: India is one of the most important markets in the world after the United States of America for the technology giant Google. To drive more business, according to local demand, Google is testing driverless Auto Rickshaw in India after successful testing of driverless car in the United States of America.
Google is trying to make a driverless car popular among the people of the United States. Google wants to take over the market of driverless cars in the United States and then around the world.
“In India, you would find most auto rickshaws as we find cars in the western countries. So, it’s not a good idea to promote driverless cars in India. Instead of cars, we are testing driverless auto rickshaw in India.”, an engineer for Google, working on this project told the World News Express on condition of anonymity.
“We are trying to make a driverless auto rickshaw affordable for all in India. Hence, we are thinking to tie up with the major automobile companies in India as well as the state governments and central government of India to reduce the cost. We are also working on solar-powered feature for driverless auto rickshaw which will reduce the daily expenses of middle-class Indian family”, he further added.
Google is the first company to announce driverless auto rickshaw. Right now, Bajaj, TVS, and Atul are market leaders in India for auto rickshaw manufacturing, but they haven’t introduced any driverless auto rickshaw. Even, these auto rickshaw manufacturing companies not spending any money for R&D of driverless auto rickshaws.
In India, auto rickshaw is also known as tuk tuk.
“I would be more than happy to buy driverless auto rickshaw for me and my family. It would be great if this driverless auto rickshaw comes with solar energy powered to reduce the cost of daily life as well as pollution on mother earth”, a Netizen from Morbi, Gujarat told WNE.
